Softball Game Preview: Granite Hills Eagles vs. Santana Sultans

The Granite Hills Eagles will face off against the Santana Sultans at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.

On Wednesday, Granite Hills didn't have quite enough to beat Valhalla and fell 3-2.

Granite Hills saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mia Downes, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.

Meanwhile, Santana earned a 9-6 win over El Capitan on Wednesday.

Kaylee Lindahl and Emma Schneider did most of the damage at the plate: Lindahl scored a run while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances, while Schneider scored two runs.

Santana is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.2 runs over those games. As for Granite Hills, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-10-1 record this season.

Santana's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Thursday. Granite Hills has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.6 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Santana, though, as they've been averaging only 3.7 strikeouts. Will Granite Hills keep running through batters, or will the Sultans buck the trend?
