Baseball Recap: Waterloo Comes Up Short

Waterloo extended their losing streak to eight on Tuesday, dropping them down to 1-11. They came up short against the Springfield Tigers, falling 14-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-2 on Monday.

As for Springfield, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-4. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won six matchups by nine runs or more so far this season.

For Springfield's part, Jacoby Emerine looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Noah Troggio, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases and four runs. He continues to improve, besting his previous run total in each of the last three games he's played. Alec Fusco was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Waterloo will face off against Aquinas at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Springfield, they will challenge Western Reserve at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
