MaxPreps and JJHuddle are proud to announce that they will sponsor an athlete of the week in baseball during the 2016-2017 school year.

Each week during the season (regular and post), there will be a fan-generated contest to tab a weekly winner. Each winner will receive awards (bracelets and certificates).

How does it work?

Fans will nominate top performances (send emails to efrantz@maxpreps.com) and nominees will also be selected from those schools that report stats on MaxPreps. We will announce the weekly finalists (up to 10) on MaxPreps and JJHuddle every Tuesday and voting will be conducted in a special poll. Voting will cease at noon on Monday. The winners (two per week) will be announced the next day along with the next week's nominees.

Sophomore pitcher (K'd eight) threw a complete-game and went 3-for-5 with two home runs, seven RBI and a double in a 13-4 win over Meigs.

* Marco DeFalco, McKinley (Niles) (FINAL VOTING RESULTS)
Junior pitcher tossed his second no-hitter of the season and K'd 13 in a 6-0 win over Lakeview that clinched the All-American Conference White Tier title.

Junior fired a no-hitter in a 13-0 D-IV sectional final win over Perry.

* Justin Mcconnell, Springboro
Stole three bases in a 10-0 D-I sectional win over Bellefontaine to set a school record for stolen bases in a season (28). Was 3-for-3 with four runs scored.



* Ryan Gossard, Bath (Lima)
Tossed a no-hitter in a 3-0 win over St. Marys.

* Griffan Smith, Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy (Cincinnati)
Tossed a no-hitter in a 17-0 D-III sectional final win over Riverview East.

* A.J. Peters, Grove City
Tossed a no-hitter and K’d 11 in a 10-0 D-I sectional win over Teays Valley.

* Jacob Kates, Lakota West (West Chester)
Senior pitcher improved to 8-1 on the season by throwing a complete game with 11 Ks in a 2-1 D-I sectional win over Walnut Hills.

* Michael Kirian, New Riegel
Senior and Louisville recruit tossed second career no-hitter and K’d 13 in a 7-0 D-IV sectional win over St. Wendelin. Also hit a two-run home run and an RBI double.
