Basketball Game Preview: Chatham Charter Knights vs. Washington County Panthers

The Chatham Charter Knights will face off against the Washington County Panthers on Friday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Chatham Charter is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They came out on top against Woods Charter by a score of 52-45. The Knights haven't had any issues with the Wolves recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Washington County, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They put the hurt on Clover Garden School with a sharp 79-57 win on Tuesday. The Panthers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Chatham Charter better focus on containing Christian Phelps and Brandon Carter Jr. as the pair were huge in Washington County's win. Phelps on his way to 24 points in addition to eight rebounds and five steals, while Carter Jr. to rack up 21 points along with six assists and three steals. That's the most steals Phelps has posted since back in January. The team also got some help courtesy of Nai'Jai Carter, who scored seven points.

Chatham Charter's record now sits at 17-10. As for Washington County, their victory was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-3.

Chatham Charter was able to grind out a solid win over Washington County when the teams last played back in February of 2023, winning 56-49. The rematch might be a little tougher for Chatham Charter since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
