While Amherst's win against Shiocton wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Falcons won by a run and slipped past the Chiefs 3-2. The victory continues a trend for the Falcons in their matchups with the Chiefs: they've now won eight in a row.

Sam Nooyen spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on seven hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, McKenna Orsund was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Calee Schulist, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Amherst's win bumped their record up to 8-9. As for Shiocton, they dropped their record down to 1-8 with the defeat, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coming up, Amherst will take on Port Edwards at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Shiocton, they will head out to take on Iola-Scandinavia at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
