Football Game Preview: New Canaan Rams vs. Stamford Black Knights + How To Watch

The New Canaan Rams will face off against the Stamford Black Knights at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (New Canaan has 16 straight victories, Stamford has six straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

New Canaan is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Connecticut's top teams: Greenwich, who was ranked fourth at the time (New Canaan was ranked first). The Rams walked away with a 14-7 win over the Cardinals on Friday.

New Canaan's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Maddox Hoffman led the charge by throwing for 185 yards and two TDs. The Rams also got a significant boost from Henry Stein, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 80 yards.

New Canaan didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Greenwich to a completion percentage of just 47.1%. That dominant aerial defense primarily came from four players: Ryan Francis, James McInerney, Andrew Esposito, and Dante Marsili, who each logged one passes deflected. New Canaan wasn't nearly as limited: they posted one of 65.2%.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Stamford's offense. They were dealt a 35-0 loss at the hands of Wilton on Friday. The contest marked the first time this season in which the Black Knights were not able to get on the board.

Stamford's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for New Canaan, their victory bumped their record up to 6-0.
