Baseball Game Preview: Taylor Titans vs. Tipton Blue Devils

The Taylor Titans will square off against the Tipton Blue Devils at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Taylor has given up an average of 11.8 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Taylor lost 14-4 to Caston on Saturday.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Tipton). They put the hurt on Elwood with a sharp 15-3 win on Friday. The Blue Devils haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Kellen Hussong was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Tipton is 4-2 when Hussong posts two or more runs, but 3-13 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Caleb Hare, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and two RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Tipton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Tipton pushed their record up to 7-15 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Taylor, their loss dropped their record down to 1-19.

Taylor suffered a grim 12-6 defeat to Tipton in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Titans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
