Recap: Hulett Devils vs. Moorcroft Wolves
If the Hulett Devils were riding high off their 52-19 takedown of the Meeteetse Longhorns last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Hulett was just a bucket shy of victory on Thursday and fell 28-27 to Moorcroft. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Hulett in their matchups with Moorcroft: they've now lost nine in a row.
Moorcroft's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Natalee Scribner, who scored nine points along with five rebounds and four steals. That makes it five consecutive games in which Scribner has scored at least 25% of Moorcroft's points. Another player making a difference was Talia Vargas, who scored five points along with four steals.
Hulett's defeat was their third straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-1. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 27.0 points per game. As for Moorcroft, their victory bumped their record up to 1-4.
Hulett will head out on the road to face off against Southeast at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday. Moorcroft will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Upton at 4:30 p.m. on January 6, 2024.
