Baseball Game Preview: Pine City Dragons vs. Aitkin Gobblers

Pine City hasn't had much luck against Aitkin recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Dragons will look to defend their home field against the Gobblers at 4:30 p.m. Pine City will be strutting in after a victory while Aitkin will be coming in after a loss.

Pine City came out on top against East Central on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run second inning. The Dragons walked away with a 5-1 win over the Eagles. The game marked the Dragons' most dominant victory of the season.

Ethan Aagaard spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up 16 Ks.

On the hitting side, Ezrah Barth was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Beau Hegge, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Meanwhile, Aitkin unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Thursday. They came up short against Proctor, falling 6-0.

Aitkin saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kyler Rikala, who went 2-for-3 with one double. That double was Rikala's first of the season.

Pine City's win bumped their record up to 4-10. As for Aitkin, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-4.
