Volleyball Game Preview: Hunter Wolverines vs. Cyprus Pirates

Hunter has gone a perfect 3-0 against Cyprus recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Wolverines will take on the Pirates at 6:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Hunter is headed into the matchup having just suffered their biggest defeat since March 15th on Tuesday. They lost 3-0 to West Jordan. While getting shut out isn't ideal, the Wolverines haven't been shut out since back in March.

Hunter was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the third set very close. The final score came out to 25-17, 25-17, 25-22.

Meanwhile, Cyprus was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Kearns.

The match finished with set scores of 25-11, 25-23, 20-25, 25-16.

Cyprus' defeat dropped their record down to 3-15. As for Hunter, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 9-10.

Everything went Hunter's way against Cyprus when the teams last played back in March, as Hunter made off with a 3-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wolverines since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
