Baseball Game Preview: Asheboro Blue Comets vs. North Davidson Black Knights

Asheboro is 0-8 against North Davidson since April of 2022 but things could change on Friday. The Blue Comets will venture away from home to challenge the Black Knights at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Asheboro is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Wheatmore 8-6.

Adam Curry was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. That triple marked the first that he hit this season. Another player making a difference was Price Kidd, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one double and one RBI.

Asheboro was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2024.

Meanwhile, North Davidson entered their tilt with Southeast Guilford on Wednesday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They came out on top against the Falcons by a score of 9-6.

North Davidson pushed their record up to 6-9 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Asheboro, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-10 record this season.

Asheboro suffered a grim 7-1 defeat to North Davidson in their previous matchup on Tuesday. Can the Blue Comets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
