Softball Recap: Grants Comes Up Short

Grants fell victim to Albuquerque Academy and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They came up short against the Chargers, falling 10-0. It was the first time this season that the Pirates let down their fans at home.

Grants saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Raeyna Valdez, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one double. Valdez is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played.

Grants' defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Albuquerque Academy, they moved to 6-7 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Grants and Albuquerque Academy will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. Grants is set to square off against their familiar foe Valencia at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Albuquerque Academy will take on rival Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
