Basketball Recap: Lutheran Triumphs

If Colorado Springs Christian wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Lutheran, they should've done a better job of containing Berkley Schneider. The Lutheran Lions managed a 48-42 victory over the Colorado Springs Christian Lions on Saturday thanks in part to Schneider, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. She has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last seven times she's played.

Another player making a difference was Laila Purvis, who posted two points in addition to five assists and five steals. Those five steals gave her a new career-high.

Colorado Springs Christian lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Rose Ross, who went 5 of 12 on her way to 13 points and eight steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Abigail Perry, who put up seven points and 12 rebounds.

Lutheran now has a winning record of 2-1.

Lutheran wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 42-34 defeat against Erie on the 10th. As for Colorado Springs Christian, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 40-0 loss against Centauri on the 14th.
