Softball Game Preview: Ashville Bulldogs vs. Weaver Bearcats

The Ashville Bulldogs are taking a road trip to take on the Weaver Bearcats at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Ashville's pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so Weaver's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Ashville's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They came out on top against Westbrook Christian by a score of 5-0. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bulldogs.

Westbrook Christian's batters probably weren't too happy with Lexi St. John, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 15 Ks (she gave up a single walk). St. John has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Karleigh Grier, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Addison Nabors also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen bases of the season.

Meanwhile, Weaver came up short against Ranburne on Saturday and fell 6-3.

Ashville's victory bumped their record up to 26-13-1. As for Weaver, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-13 record this season.

Ashville took their win against Weaver in their previous matchup back in March by a conclusive 10-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
