Softball Recap: Bellport Clippers vs. West Babylon Eagles
Bellport extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping their season record down to 6-12 in the process. They lost 12-0 to the West Babylon Eagles. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-5 back in April.
Bellport saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rosie Padilla, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases.
As for West Babylon, they pushed their record up to 9-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by six runs or more this season.
On West Babylon's side, Kayleigh Carlson tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over five innings pitched.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Daniella Nocera, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Eliza Tymann was another key player, earning one RBI, three runs, and one stolen base.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bellport will head out to take on Deer Park at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for West Babylon, they will venture away from home to square off against Northport at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
