Baseball Recap: Glastonbury Comes Up Short

Glastonbury had lost seven straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 5-12 to make it eight. They fell 6-2 to the East Lyme Vikings. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Guardians of the 16-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

As for East Lyme, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games.

For East Lyme's part, Andrew Sevigney spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Harrison Papuga, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Garrison Biggs, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Coming up, Glastonbury is taking a road trip to face off against East Catholic at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. As for East Lyme, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Montville at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
