Basketball Game Preview: St. Martin de Porres Lions vs. Kirtland Hornets

The St. Martin de Porres Lions are taking a road trip to take on the Kirtland Hornets at 1:45 p.m. on Saturday.

It was a proper cat-fight when St. Martin de Porres faced off against Bedford on Sunday. St. Martin de Porres received a blow as they fell 46-31 to Bedford.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Haylee Ray, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine steals. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Alayah Coleman, who posted seven points in addition to five boards and three steals.

Meanwhile, Kirtland beat Wickliffe 46-36 on Wednesday.

St. Martin de Porres' loss dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Kirtland, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 9-7 record this season.

Things could have been worse for St. Martin de Porres, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 57-43 loss to Kirtland in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. Can St. Martin de Porres avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
