Baseball Game Preview: Central Dragons vs. Clearfield Bison

The Central Dragons are taking a road trip to challenge the Clearfield Bison at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Central is coming into the contest hot, having won their last five games.

While Central's win against Penn Cambria wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Dragons skirted past the Panthers 4-2.

Coltin Harbaugh spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up 13 Ks.

At the plate, Jay Hoenstine and Lukas Black did most of the damage at the plate: Hoenstine went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI, while Black went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 15 runs the game before, Clearfield was a bit more limited in their match on Wednesday. They fell 6-2 to St. Marys.

Clearfield saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Braison Patrick, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. That stolen base marked the first that Patrick has snagged this season. Matt Irvin was another, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run.

Clearfield now has a losing record of 8-9. As for Central, their victory bumped their record up to 14-4.

Clearfield's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Central hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .375. It's a different story for Clearfield, though, as they've only averaged .251. Will they be able to contain Central's hitters?

Central might still be hurting after the 14-8 defeat they got from Clearfield when the teams last played back in March. Can the Dragons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
