Basketball Recap: Oswayo Valley Green Wave vs. Cuba-Rushford Rebels
The Oswayo Valley Green Wave's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 69-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of Cuba-Rushford. While losing is never fun, Oswayo Valley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 745th in Pennsylvania, while the Rebels are ranked 356th in New York).
When it comes to explaining why Oswayo Valley lost, one person who can't be blamed is Connor Resig. Despite the final result, he scored 14 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabe Mundt, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds.
Oswayo Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 2-15. As for Cuba-Rushford, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 12-6.
Oswayo Valley won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on February 6th. As for Cuba-Rushford, they will head out on the road to challenge the Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
