Basketball Game Preview: Jellico Blue Devils vs. Clay County Bulldogs

Jellico hasn't had much luck against Clay County recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Jellico Blue Devils will welcome the Clay County Bulldogs at 5:30 p.m.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 75-33, which was the final score in Jellico's tilt against Sunbright on Tuesday. The Blue Devils have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite their loss, Jellico saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Sophia Lay, who posted nine points and six boards, was perhaps the best of all. The dominant performance gave Lay a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendall Osborn, who put up ten points and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, Clay County had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They walked away with a 60-52 victory over the Blue Devils.

Clay County pushed their record up to 8-9 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.3 points over those games. As for Jellico, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-22.
