Basketball Recap: Canyon Springs Continues Road Dominance on Tuesday

If Sunrise Mountain wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Canyon Springs, they should've done a better job of containing Ariyanah Custard. The Canyon Springs Pioneers snuck past the Sunrise Mountain Miners with a 50-46 victory on Tuesday thanks in part to Custard, who went 10 of 15 en route to 21 points. Custard is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season.

Several Miners players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Delyla Ross, who posted 19 points. That was a full 41.3% of Sunrise Mountain's points, marking the third time in a row she's had more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Ava Alexander, who posted 13 points.

Canyon Springs pushed their record up to 6-7 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.0 points per game. As for Sunrise Mountain, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-9.

Canyon Springs didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 60-22 victory against Clark on the 8th. As for Sunrise Mountain, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 36-31 defeat against Durango on the 9th.
