Basketball Recap: DeLand Comes Up Short

DeLand and Spruce Creek squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but DeLand had to settle for second. They fell to the Spruce Creek Hawks 68-62. The Bulldogs just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

When it comes to explaining why DeLand lost, don't look at Daniel Rodriguez. Despite the final result, he went 6 for 11 from beyond the arc on his way to 24 points. The dominant performance gave Rodriguez a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyle Carrico, who posted ten points.

DeLand's record is now 11-11. As for Spruce Creek, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-9 record this season.

DeLand does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Spruce Creek has already played their next game (against Lake Mary), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
