            Baseball Recap: Neuse Charter Cougars vs. Wake Prep Academy Guardians        
        
		
        
        
            Neuse Charter unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of the Wake Prep Academy Guardians by a score of  6-5 on Monday.
 Connor Phillips put in work no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound,   tossing five innings while giving up  three earned runs off   four  hits. Phillips was also solid in the batter's box,  scoring a  run and  stealing a base while going 3-for-4. That's the most  hits  he has posted since back in March of 2024.
 In other batting news,  Brayden Parr made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and  scored two  runs while  getting on base  in all three of his plate appearances.  Hayden Jones was another key player,  going 2-for-4 with two  RBI.
 Neuse Charter has already played their next contest,  a  19-0  defeat against East Wake Academy on the 3rd. As for Wake Prep Academy, they also  didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next  match,  a  7-1  loss against Franklinton on the 26th.
