Recap: Malvern Leopards vs. Nashville Scrappers

The Malvern Leopards entered their tilt with the Nashville Scrappers with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Malvern took down Nashville 35-21 on Friday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Malvern also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2022.

It was another big night for Jalen Dupree, who rushed for 333 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 10.1 yards per carry. Dupree is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last eight games he's played.

Despite the loss, Nashville still got an impressive performance from Tre Hopkins, who rushed for 106 yards and two touchdowns. Hopkins hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for four straight games.

Even if they lost, Nashville's defensive line sure didn't make it easy: Malvern's QB was sacked seven times before it was all said and done. The heavy lifting was done by Zaccheus Harris and Makhi Johnson who racked up five sacks between them.

Malvern's win was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 7-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 46.7 points per game. As for Nashville, their loss dropped their record down to 6-3.

Malvern will head out on the road to face off against Arkadelphia at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Arkadelphia's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last five matchups. As for Nashville, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Lonoke at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
