Football Recap: Providence Day Skates Past Christ School with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Providence Day). They breezed past the Christ School Greenies to the tune of 71-0 on Friday. The Chargers haven't had any issues with the Greenies recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Zaid Lott had another great game (as he tends to do), throwing for 225 yards and five touchdowns while completing 72.2% of his passes, and also rushing for 30 yards. What's more, he racked up 153.9 passer rating, the most he's had since back in August of 2024. Another player making a difference was Aidan Gallos, who rushed for 102 yards and a pair of scores on only six carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Providence Day was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 201 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 179 rushing yards in four consecutive matchups.

Another reason for the win was Providence Day's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank two different players for their defensive prowess: Griff Galloway and Jacob Ahmadivarji, who each picked up 0.5 sacks apiece. Providence Day received some extra help from JT Swinson, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

Providence Day's victory bumped their record up to 7-0. As for Christ School, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-5.

Providence Day and Christ School will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Chargers will face off against rival Charlotte Latin at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Christ School is set to challenge their familiar foe Rabun Gap-Nacoochee at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
