Recap: Fort Bend Bush Broncos vs. Fort Bend Austin Bulldogs
After flying high against the Fort Bend Clements Rangers last Tuesday, the Fort Bend Bush Broncos came back down to earth. Fort Bend Bush took a serious blow against Fort Bend Austin on Friday, falling 79-37. Fort Bend Bush has struggled against Fort Bend Austin recently, as their contest on Friday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Idia Orobor and Sincere Cobbin certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Orobor scored eight points along with 17 rebounds and two steals, while Cobbin scored 13 points along with eight rebounds. Orobor has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played.
Even though they lost, Fort Bend Bush smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. This was only their 16th loss (out of 26 games) when they hit their own glass that hard.
Fort Bend Austin's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Crystal Schultz, who went 7 for 11 from beyond the arc en route to 27 points and 3 assists. Schultz continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Shun?teria Anumele, who scored 29 points along with eight rebounds and six assists.
Fort Bend Bush has traveled a rocky road recently having lost ten of their last 13 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-19 record this season. As for Fort Bend Austin, the victory (which was their 26th in a row) raised their record to 30-1.
Fort Bend Bush will be playing at home against Fort Bend Travis at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Fort Bend Bush focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 26 on Friday. As for Fort Bend Austin, they will square off against Fort Bend Hightower at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Fort Bend Hightower is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
