Baseball Recap: Saul Comes Up Short

If Saul was feeling good fresh off their 17-7 takedown of Hill Freedman World Academy last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Saul lost 22-16 to the Simon Gratz Bulldogs on Thursday. The Razorbacks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2022.

Hunter Williams led a balanced group of hitters, scoring four runs while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Nyjay Jones was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in four of his seven plate appearances.

Saul's defeat was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Simon Gratz, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Saul will venture away from home to square off against Jules E. Mastbaum Vo-Tech at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Simon Gratz, they will head out to take on Vaux Big Picture at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
