Baseball Recap: Firelands Takes a Loss

The Firelands Falcons came up short against the Solon Comets on Saturday and fell 16-12.

Daniel Kothe and Aidan Cummings stepped up to the plate in a big way. Kothe went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double, while Cummings went 2-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Cummings is becoming a predictor of Firelands' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 5-7 when he doesn't). Maxx Bray was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Firelands now has a losing record of 7-8. As for Solon, with the win, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 4-11.

Looking ahead, Firelands will welcome Clearview at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Falcons are facing the Clippers at the right time seeing as the Clippers are stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Solon, they are taking a road trip to challenge Benedictine at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Bengals' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Comets' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
