Softball Recap: Monessen Comes Up Short

Monessen was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against the Carmichaels Mighty Mikes, falling 15-1. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Greyhounds of the 15-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2022.

Grace Clingenpeel was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run.

Monessen's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Carmichaels, they pushed their record up to 3-0 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Monessen will venture away from home to face off against California at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Monessen's pitchers better be ready for this one: California has averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season. As for Carmichaels, they will head out on the road to square off against Frazier at 4:45 p.m. on Friday.
