Basketball Game Preview: Rocky Ford Meloneers vs. Fowler Grizzlies

Rocky Ford is 1-9 against Fowler since January of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Rocky Ford Meloneers will square off against the Fowler Grizzlies at 7:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Rocky Ford is headed into Tuesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Thursday. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 54-49 heartbreaker at the hands of Swallows Charter Academy.

Rocky Ford's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Isaiah Vazquez-Gallegos, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten boards, and Shayne Gonzales, who posted 18 points and five rebounds. Gonzales continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Fabian Ortega, who scored seven points and seven rebounds.

Meanwhile, Fowler entered their contest against McClave on Saturday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Fowler fell 55-47 to McClave.

Rocky Ford's loss dropped their record down to 3-15. As for Fowler, they suffered their first home defeat, dropping their record down to 10-5.

Rocky Ford took a serious blow against Fowler when the teams last played back in January of 2024, falling 60-28. Thankfully for Rocky Ford, Gage Gottbehuet (who went 9 of 12 on his way to 19 points in addition to five boards and three steals) won't be suiting up this time.
