Baseball Recap: Lawndale Victorious

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Mira Costa, Lawndale was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They came out on top against the Peninsula Panthers by a score of 6-1. For the Cardinals, this counts as revenge for the 9-1 victory the Panthers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2019.

Christian Lopez made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Seth Alex Rodriguez, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.

Lawndale's win bumped their record up to 10-4. As for Peninsula, they dropped their record down to 6-5 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Coming up, Lawndale will host Centennial at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Peninsula, they are taking a road trip to challenge Mira Costa at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. Mira Costa will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something Peninsula surely won't give up without a fight.
