Basketball Game Preview: Clear Creek Golddiggers vs. Union Colony Prep Timberwolves

The Clear Creek Golddiggers will square off against the Union Colony Prep Timberwolves at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Clear Creek is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They enjoyed a cozy 50-33 victory over South Park on Tuesday. The Golddiggers pushed the score to 39-17 by the end of the third, a deficit the Burros cut but never quite recovered from.

Clear Creek's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Donovan Miller led the charge by going 7 for 14 on his way to 19 points and four steals. The dominant performance gave Miller a new career-high in points. Wyatt Huff was another key player, going 5 of 8 on his way to 10 points and five rebounds.

Clear Creek smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in six consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Union Colony Prep hadn't done well against Dawson School recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. Union Colony Prep snuck past Dawson School with a 54-50 win. While the Timberwolves didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Union Colony Prep's victory bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Clear Creek, their win bumped their record up to 2-4.
