Baseball Recap: Columbia Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Columbia, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They put the hurt on the Forest Bearcats with a sharp 11-1 win on Monday. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by nine runs or more this season.

Columbia got a great performance from Max McDaniel as he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. McDaniel has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Jonathan Lowery and Collin Haney did most of the damage at the plate: Lowery scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-3, while Haney got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one double. Those three hits gave Lowery a new career-high. Dillon Rowley was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Columbia always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Columbia's victory bumped their record up to 8-3. As for Forest, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-8.

Columbia will have a chance to go back-to-back against Forest: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
