Recap: New Smyrna Beach Barracudas vs. Lake Howell Silver Hawks

The New Smyrna Beach Barracudas struggled with assists on Friday (the Lake Howell Silver Hawks had eight more) and sadly the final score reflected it. New Smyrna Beach ended up on the wrong side of a tough 53-32 walloping at the hands of Lake Howell. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points New Smyrna Beach has scored all season.

New Smyrna Beach's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lukas Parschauer, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds. Parschauer scored a full 31.3% of New Smyrna Beach's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Peter Phan, who scored 12 points.

Leading Lake Howell to victory were Mason Forbes and Janiel De los santos. Forbes scored nine points along with ten rebounds, while De los santos scored ten points along with five assists and five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Forbes has scored all season. Jadrian De Los Santos was another key contributor, scoring eight points.

New Smyrna Beach's defeat dropped their record down to 10-2. As for Lake Howell, the win got them back to even at 6-6.

New Smyrna Beach will head out on the road to face off against Bayshore Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Bayshore Christian will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 546th, while New Smyrna Beach is ranked 211th). As for Lake Howell, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Ribault at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Ribault is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 66.9 points per game.
