Basketball Recap: Green Mountain's Loss Ends Eight-Game Winning Streak at Home

Green Mountain entered their game against Dakota Ridge on Monday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Green Mountain Rams took a 56-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Dakota Ridge Eagles. While losing is never fun, the Rams can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 95th, while the Eagles are ranked 33rd).

Green Mountain lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Ben Swanson, who went 5 for 7 on his way to 12 points and six rebounds. Sam Mielenz was another key player, putting up ten points.

Even though they lost, Green Mountain smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Dakota Ridge only pulled down nine offensive boards.

Nathan Esau continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Dakota Ridge, going 12 of 22 en route to 29 points and eight boards. The matchup was Esau's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Berninger, who posted nine points in addition to six rebounds and three steals.

Green Mountain's loss ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 9-9. As for Dakota Ridge, they pushed their record up to 12-6 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Green Mountain has already played their next contest (against Littleton), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Dakota Ridge has also has no score uploaded for their next game, this one against Pomona.
