Football Recap: Pine Creek Eagles vs. Cherokee Trail Cougars
On Thursday, Pine Creek faced Cherokee Trail in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Pine Creek Eagles simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Cherokee Trail Cougars 56-14 on the road.
While passing duties were split, you can't argue with the impact Cameron Cooper and Brady Walden both made on the game. Cooper rushed for 80 yards and a touchdown on only five carries while Walden gained 80 total yards and a touchdown. Walden got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run and that went for an incredible 61 yards. Pine Creek also got help from Elijah Roy, who showed off his sure hands for 90 receiving yards.
The victory got Pine Creek back to even at 1-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pine Creek will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Loveland at 7:00 p.m. on September 13th. As for Cherokee Trail, they are taking a road trip to challenge ThunderRidge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Cherokee Trail is no doubt hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
