Basketball Recap: Mount Morris Comes Up Short

After flying high against Hinsdale Central last Monday, Mount Morris came back down to earth. The Mount Morris Blue Devils took a 48-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lima Christian Saints on Saturday. The Blue Devils have struggled against the Saints recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Lima Christian found their leader in sophomore Alyssa Marsh, who dropped a triple-double on 27 points, ten boards, and ten steals. That makes it 12 consecutive games in which Marsh has scored at least a third of Lima Christian's points. Brielle Hammond was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds.

Mount Morris' defeat dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Lima Christian, the win got them back to even at 6-6.

Coming up, Mount Morris will head out on the road to take on Le Roy at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Lima Christian, they will welcome Honeoye at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Lima Christian is facing Honeoye at the right time seeing as Honeoye is stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
