Flag Football Game Preview: Saint Mary's Panthers vs. Pinole Valley Spartans

The Saint Mary's Panthers will challenge the Pinole Valley Spartans at 11:15 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Saint Mary's sitting on 17 straight victories and Pinole Valley on four.

On Wednesday, Saint Mary's strolled past Hercules with points to spare, taking the game 25-6. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' California flag football rankings (they are ranked 149th, while the Titans are ranked 411th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Gabby Clement produced another solid performance throwing for 215 yards and three touchdowns, while also rushing for 110 yards on only 12 carries. Those 110 rushing yards gave her a new career-high.

Clement was just one part of a punishing run game: Saint Mary's was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 220 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Pinole Valley earned a 19-6 win over Bethel on Saturday.

Saint Mary's victory bumped their record up to 17-0. As for Pinole Valley, their win bumped their record up to 5-6.

Saint Mary's strolled past Pinole Valley in their previous meeting back in September by a score of 28-13. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
