Garden City and Junction City are an even 3-3 against one another since March of 2015, but likely not for long. The Buffaloes will face off against the Bluejays at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Garden City will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.
Garden City barely beat Goodland the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Buffaloes blew past the Cowboys 12-2 on Monday. That looming 12-2 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Buffaloes yet this season.

Drew Strecker made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with three RBI.
In other pitching news, Eli Steinmetz looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Bo Roth, who scored three runs and stole six bases while going 2-for-4. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 1.2 stolen bases per game. Trevin Tabor was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing five bases.
Garden City hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Goodland struck out seven times.
Meanwhile, Junction City was able to grind out a solid win over South back in March, taking the game 8-3. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bluejays.
Garden City pushed their record up to 4-6 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Junction City, their record is now 2-0.
Garden City took their victory against Junction City in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 6-0 score. Do the Buffaloes have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bluejays turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
