Softball Recap: Industrial Drops Highest Score of Season Against Rice Consolidated

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Industrial). Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Rice Consolidated Raiders a 20-0 shutout on Tuesday. Considering the Cobras have won seven matchups by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Kinley Mauldin was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those two hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayla Osburn, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Industrial always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .536. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rice Consolidated only posted an OBP of .250.

The victory (which was Industrial's third in a row) raised their record to 10-3-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Rice Consolidated, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-17.

Coming up, Industrial will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Hallettsville at 1:00 p.m. Hallettsville will roll in looking for their 11th straight win, something Industrial surely won't give up without a fight. As for Rice Consolidated, they will head out on the road to take on Palacios at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Rice Consolidated has given up an average of 13.8 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
