Softball Recap: Lee Williams Has No Trouble Against Estrella Foothills

Lee Williams won against Prescott last Thursday with 17 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. Everything went the Volunteers' way against the Estrella Foothills Wolves as they made off with a 17-5 victory. The result was nothing new for the Volunteers, who have now won seven games by ten runs or more so far this season.

Aivree Austin made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Austin was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-5. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Sienna Dooley and Raeleigh Pugh did most of the damage at the plate: Dooley scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4, while Pugh scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave Dooley a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Sami Marshall, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Lee Williams was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .568. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .353 or higher in five consecutive contests.

Lee Williams' record is now 8-12. As for Estrella Foothills, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-18.

Coming up, Lee Williams will host Mohave at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Thunderbirds have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.69 runs per game on average), something the Volunteers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Estrella Foothills, they will venture away from home to take on Agua Fria at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The Owls have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.25 runs per game on average), something the Wolves will no doubt try to take advantage of.
