Recap: P.K. Yonge Blue Wave vs. Forest Wildcats
After a string of six wins, the P.K. Yonge Blue Wave's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They took a 58-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of Forest. P.K. Yonge was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Forest apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in November of 2018.
P.K. Yonge's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Reniyah Clark, who scored 17 points along with nine rebounds and four steals. Clark is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashlyn Young, who scored 14 points along with nine rebounds and five steals.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Forest to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ja'Niyah McCoy, who scored 16 points along with two steals. Jiyah Hamilton was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with five assists and two steals.
P.K. Yonge's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-5. As for Forest, they now have a winning record of 11-10.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. P.K. Yonge will take on Vanguard at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Vanguard focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 35 last Friday. As for Forest, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on North Marion at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd. North Marion is hoping to put an end to a seven-game streak of away losses.
