Basketball Recap: Oakland-Craig Starts Season with Victory on the Road

Oakland-Craig had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 49-46 victory over Logan View/Scribner-Snyder on Thursday. This was payback for the Knights, who suffered a 47-40 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Corbin Guill was nothing short of spectacular: he went 7 of 13 on his way to 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Pearson, who posted seven points and seven rebounds.

Logan View/Scribner-Snyder's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nolan Robley, who had 11 points. The dominant performance also gave Robley a new career-high in assists (two). Another player making a difference was Matson Beacom, who put up 12 points and seven rebounds.

Oakland-Craig didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 67-42 win against Clarkson/Leigh on the 10th. As for Logan View/Scribner-Snyder, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 59-48 defeat against Aquinas on the 7th.
