Basketball Game Preview: Manistique Emeralds vs. Iron Mountain Mountaineers

Manistique is 1-9 against Iron Mountain since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Manistique Emeralds will head out on the road to face off against the Iron Mountain Mountaineers at 6:15 p.m. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Manistique is headed into Thursday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight game on Monday. They came up short against Gwinn, falling 47-21.

Meanwhile, Iron Mountain was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 11th straight defeat. They took a 54-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of Ishpeming. While losing is never fun, the Mountaineers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 507th, while the Hematites are ranked 108th).

Iron Mountain's loss dropped their record down to 2-12. As for Manistique, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-9.

Manistique came up short against Iron Mountain in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, falling 45-35. Can Manistique avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
