Softball Game Preview: Abington Heights Comets vs. Valley View Cougars

The Abington Heights Comets will head out to take on the Valley View Cougars at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Abington Heights will be strutting in after a victory while Valley View will be coming in after a loss.

Abington Heights had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 14-run drubbing they dealt Scranton on Wednesday. The Comets put the hurt on the Knights with a sharp 15-1 win. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Cecelia O'Malley was a standout: she scored a run while going 2-for-2. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was Avary Brister, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, while it was Valley View who put the first points on the board on Wednesday, it was North Pocono who put up more. The Cougars fell just short of the Trojans by a score of 7-6. Cougars fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Trojans since on Wednesday.

Emily Moyles and Maggie Hallett stepped up to the plate in a big way. Moyles went 1-for-3 with one home run, while Hallett went 2-for-4 with one home run. Kalli Karwowski also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Valley View fell to 3-1-1. As for Abington Heights, their victory bumped their record up to 2-0.
