Softball Recap: Deer Creek-Mackinaw Comes Up Short

The Deer Creek-Mackinaw Chiefs didn't have quite enough to beat the Limestone Rockets on Wednesday and fell 4-3. That's two games in a row now that the Chiefs have lost by just one run.

Rease Kelley made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run. Another player making a difference was Lexi Cottingham, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

This is the second loss in a row for Deer Creek-Mackinaw and nudges their season record down to 12-8. Even worse, they were so close both times: the losses came by an average of only one runs. As for Limestone, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-15.

Coming up, Deer Creek-Mackinaw will welcome Princeville at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Limestone, they will head out on the road to challenge Washington at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Panthers' pitching crew has only allowed 1.8 runs per game this season, so the Rockets' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
