Volleyball Recap: Gautier Gators vs. Hancock Hawks

Gautier was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They lost 3-0 to the Hancock Hawks. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hawks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in August.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 25-16, 25-11.

Marlaysia Applewhite paced Gautier's offense, picking up three kills. Applewhite got some help from Sierra Smith and her five assists. Illeiram Arce controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Hancock found their leader in sophomore Lexi Dreher, who had ten digs and two aces.

Gautier's defeat dropped their record down to 8-15. As for Hancock, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-7 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Gautier will take on rival Pascagoula at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Hancock is set to challenge their familiar foe Pearl River Central at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
