Volleyball Recap: Gibault Catholic Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from ASHLYNN REINHOLD and AUBRY THOMAS

It was a Battle of the Birds when Gibault Catholic faced off against Columbia on Monday. The Hawks fell 2-0 to the Eagles. The loss continues a trend for the Hawks in their meetings with the Eagles: they've now lost eight in a row.

Gibault Catholic was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the first set very close. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 25-20.

Gibault Catholic's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of AUBRY THOMAS, who had 15 digs and four aces, and ASHLYNN REINHOLD, who had 11 assists and nine digs. THOMAS is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 14 or more in each of the last seven games she's played.

Gibault Catholic now has a losing record of 6-7. As for Columbia, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 18-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gibault Catholic will square off against Carlyle at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Columbia, they will face off against Freeburg at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
