The Sasakwa Vikings will take on the Graham/Dustin RiverHawk at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Sasakwa has five straight victories, Graham/Dustin has seven straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Sasakwa will bounce into Friday's game after beating Maysville, who they had gone 0-4 against in their four prior meetings. The Vikings blew past the Warriors 40-6 on Thursday. Considering the Vikings have won five matchups by more than 29 points this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Sasakwa's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Darius Henderson, who rushed for 26 yards and one touchdown, and also caught one score. Another passer making a difference was Thaddeus Harjo, who threw for 52 yards and a pair of TDs.
Meanwhile, Graham/Dustin played a tough contest on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against Paoli, falling 66-28. RiverHawk fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Pugs since Thursday.
Sasakwa will have to contain Isaiah Stout as he made an impact in Graham/Dustin's last game. He rushed for 78 yards and a pair of scores on only ten carries, and also threw for 115 yards and one touchdown. Henry Bennett was another key player, gaining 96 total yards and a touchdown.
Sasakwa's victory bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Graham/Dustin, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-7.
Friday's game might be decided in the trenches. Sasakwa has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 158.3 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for Graham/Dustin, though, as they've been averaging only 61.1 rushing yards. How will they fare against such a dominant running game?
Everything came up roses for Sasakwa against Graham/Dustin in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 52-6 win. In that matchup, the Vikings amassed a halftime lead of 52-6, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
