Granite City hadn't done well against O'Fallon recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way  on Thursday. Granite City sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with  a  9-7  win over O'Fallon. This was payback for the Warriors, who suffered  a  13-3  defeat the last time these two teams met.
 Christine Myers made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound,   striking out six batters over  seven innings while giving up just two earned  (and five unearned) runs off   eight  hits (and only one walk). Myers was also big at the plate,  getting on base  in two of her three plate appearances with two  RBI.
 In other batting news, Granite City got a  massive  performance out of  Alexis Ruiz, who  scored two  runs and  stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Those  two  stolen bases gave  Ruiz a new career-high. Another player making a difference was  Milyn Roehr, who  went 2-for-3 with two  runs, one  triple,  and one  RBI.
 Granite City  always had someone on base and  finished the game having  posted an OBP of .515. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as O'Fallon only posted  an  OBP of  .303.
Granite City has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of two runs across that stretch. As for O'Fallon, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.
 Looking ahead, Granite City will head out to  square off against Highland  at 4:30  p.m.  on Thursday. As for O'Fallon, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next  match,  a  22-3  defeat against Triad on the 22nd.
